About Stuart Engel
Hello Im Stuart Engel. I have been painting and drawing all of my life. I am inspired by music, color, and the search to capture the movement and feeling of the moment. I mostly paint with acrylics and sand. I do my best to allow each viewer to see the same painting differently, by leaving pieces for each viewer to automatically fill out ,in their minds.
I grew up in the DC area and moved to Boulder, CO in the late 70s where I began my professional artist career. My last show in Boulder was at the Boulder Graduate School 1989.Since that time I raised 3 daughters and continued to paint as much as possible. Im very excited for new people to see my work and hopefully relate to it enough to purchase a piece and take it home to enjoy forever.
Music is incredibly important to me. After seeing my first live show in 1972 I was moved to follow music and soak up as much as possible. My favorite show and band has always been Led Zeppelin. With that said, Ive been lucky enough to have Robert Plant sign two oil paintings I did of him. Im excited to be able to offer such unique pieces to fellow art and music lovers.
Ive always been drawn to skies and trees. I love to paint the dramatic colors of sunsets, and many times will mix it up to incorporate surreal colors and textures.
My compositions and subjects are quite eclectic. Ive never been one to stick to one theme. Im excited to sit in front of a blank canvas and not know exactly what will be coming.
Thank you for taking time to experience my art. I hope I have inspired or moved you.
